SSC JE 2020: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) released the online application form for the posts of Junior Engineer – Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Quantity Surveying & Contracts Examination 2020 on October 01, 2020. The last date of online application is October 30, 2020. The selection of the candidates will be done through the Paper-I (Computer Based Examination) and Paper-II (Descriptive Type). Staff Selection Commission will hold an open competitive examination for the recruitment of Junior Engineer (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Quantity Surveying & Contracts) for various Ministries/ Departments/ Organizations in the Government of India. The posts are Group „B‟ (Non-Gazetted), in Level-6 (Rs 35400-112400/-) of the pay matrix of the 7th Central Pay Commission.

SSC JE 2020 Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for the SSC JE 2020 is as follows:

Nationality/ Citizenship

A candidate must be either:

  • (a) a citizen of India, or
  • (b) a subject of Nepal, or
  • (c) a subject of Bhutan, or
  • (d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India.

  • Two years of working experience in Planning/ Execution/ Maintenance of Civil Engineering works.
Junior Engineer (Electrical & Mechanical), Border Roads Organization, Ministry of Defence
  • Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University/ Institute; or Three years Diploma in Electrical/ Automobile/ Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University/ Institute/ Board;
  • Two years of experience in Planning/ Execution/ Maintenance of Electrical or Mechanical Engineering works.

SSC JE 2020 Application Form

The SSC JE 2020 application process is over now on the official website as per the schedule. However, applications received without the prescribed fee were not be considered and summarily rejected. And, no representation against such rejection was entertained. Fee once paid was not refunded under any circumstances nor it was adjusted against any other examination or selection.

Application Fee & Mode of Payment

  • Fee payable Rs 100/- (Rs one hundred only)
  • Mode of fee payment: BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or by using Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, RuPay Credit or Debit card or in cash at SBI Branches by generating SBI Challan.
  • Women candidates and candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Persons with disabilities (PwD), and Ex-Servicemen eligible for reservation are exempted from payment of a fee.

How to Apply

  • Candidates can submit the online application form at the official website of SSC Headquarters i.e. ssc.nic.in.
  • Candidates are advised in their own interest to submit online applications much before the closing date and not to wait till the last date to avoid the possibility of disconnection/ inability or failure to login to the SSC website on account of heavy load on the website during the closing days.
  • The Commission does not accept any responsibility for the candidates not being able to submit their applications within the last date on account of the aforesaid reasons or for any other reason beyond the control of the Commission.
  • Candidates who are not exempted from fee payment must ensure that their fee has been deposited with SSC. If the fee is not received by SSC, the status of the Application Form is shown as Incomplete‟ and this information is printed on the top of the Application Form. Further, the status of fee payment can be verified at the Payment Status link provided in the candidate’s login screen. Such applications that remain incomplete due to non-receipt of fee will be SUMMARILY REJECTED and no request for consideration of such applications and fee payment after the period specified in the Notice of Examination shall be entertained.

SSC JE 2020 Admit Card

Candidates are able to download the admit card from the official website as per the schedule. Candidates must check that all the details mentioned in the admit card are correct, and in case of any discrepancy contact the officials as soon as possible. It must be remembered that it is necessary to bring the SSC JE 2020 Admit Card at the exam center on the day of the exam. Candidates can download their admit card through login id, roll number, and date of birth.

SSC JE Exam Pattern

The examination pattern for SSC JE  is provided below:

  • The Examination will consist of two papers i.e. Paper-I (Computer Based Examination) and Paper-II (Descriptive Type).
  • The Paper-I will consist of Objective Type, Multiple choice questions only. The questions will be set both in English & Hindi.
  • There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-I. Candidates are, therefore, advised to keep this in mind while answering the questions
  • Based on the normalized marks scored in the (Paper-I) i.e. Computer Based Examination, candidates will be shortlisted, category-wise, to appear in Paper-II.
  • Based on the performance in Paper-I+Paper-II, candidates will be shortlisted for Document Verification.
  • Final selection and allocation of Ministries/ Departments/ Organizations will be made on the basis of the performance of candidates in Paper-I+Paper-II and the preference of Ministries/ Departments/ Organizations exercised by them at the time of Document Verification.

Minimum qualifying marks in Paper-I and Paper-II are as follows:

  1. UR: 30%
  2. OBC/ EWS : 25%
  3. Others: 20%

SSC JE Answer Key

The candidates’ Response Sheets along with the tentative Answer Keys will be available on the official website. The candidates may log in in the link provided below by using their Examination Roll No. and Password. Representation in respect of the tentative answer keys, if any, may be submitted online on payment of Rs. 100/- per question/answer challenged. Representations received after the due date will not be entertained under any circumstances.

SSC JE Result

The result of the SSC JE 2020 exam will be declared on official websites as per the schedule. Candidate can check the result from the official website i.e ssc.nic.in.

Reservation

  • Reservation for Scheduled Castes (SC)/ Scheduled Tribes (ST)/ Other Backward Classes (OBC)/ Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and Persons with Disability (PwD) etc would be as determined and communicated by the Indenting Ministries/ Departments/Organizations, as per extant Government Orders.
  • Junior Engineer being a Group „B‟ post, there is no reservation for Ex-Servicemen (ESM) category. However, the benefit of age relaxation will be admissible to ESM candidates, as per extant Govt. Orders.
  • Except for BRO, the posts have been identified suitable for the persons suffering from disabilities of forty percent (40%) and above for One Arm affected (OA), One Leg affected (OL), and Hearing Handicapped (HH) candidates as per guidelines of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.

Pay Scale

The pay scale for posts of Group B (Non-Gazetted) is Level-6 (Rs 35400-112400/-) of pay matrix of 7th Central Pay Commission.
