JK SET 2021

Jammu and Kashmir State Eligibility Test (JK SET) is a State Eligibility Test conducted by the University of Kashmir. Candidates willing to work as Assistant Professor in various colleges and universities in the state Jammu and Kashmir can apply for JKSET, Before applying they must have a master’s degree or any other Equivalent exam which is recognized by UGC New Delhi. The University of Kashmir is the conducting authority of JKSET from 2012 onwards. Before 2012 Jammu University was the Nodal Agency. JK SET is conducted once a year under the supervision of the University of Kashmir, It consists of  2 papers, Paper I, and Paper-II.

JK SET 2021 Eligibility Criteria

It is not compulsory to be a domicile of Jammu and Kashmir to apply for the JK SET exam

Age limit

There is no upper age to be eligible for JKSET 2021. Applicants of any age can apply to appear in the examination.

Conditions of Eligibility

  1. At least 55% of marks for general category and 50% for Schedule Category (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Persons with Disability (PWD), OBCs [Cat-I, IIA, IIB, IIIA, and IIIB], in Master’s Degree OR equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGC New Delhi, in the subjects opted for JK SET.
  2. Candidates who are pursuing their Master’s Degree (First or Second Semester) or equivalent course or candidates who have appeared for their Master’s Degree (Final Year) examination and whose result is still awaited or candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for this test.
  3. Also, those who have completed their Ph.D. degree and have done their Master’s on 19 September 1992 will be given a relaxation of 5% marks for appearing in the exam.
  4. Candidates other than the general category are required to mention their reservation status in the online application form. In case their ineligibility is detected due to an invalid certificate by the JKSET agency at any stage, their candidature will be canceled without prior notice and they shall be liable for legal action.

Exemption (Eligibility for Assistant Professor)

NET/SET/SLET shall remain the minimum eligibility condition for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professors in Universities/Colleges/ Institutions. In this regard, exemption from NET/SET/SLET will be governed by UGC regulations and amendments notified in the Gazette of India from time to time.

The candidates who have passed the UGC-NET/CSIR JRF examination prior to 1989 are also exempted from the KSET examination.

For SET Candidates

The candidates who have cleared the States Eligibility Test (SET) accredited by UGC for eligibility for Assistant Professor held prior to 1st June 2002, are exempted from appearing in SET, being eligible to apply for Assistant Professor anywhere in India. For SET held from 1st June 2002 onwards, the qualified candidates are eligible to apply for the post of Assistant Professor only in the Universities/ Colleges situated in the state from where they have cleared their SET.

The application form will only be released in Online Mode at the University of Kashmir Website i.e set.uok.edu.in

Aspirants need to fill in their Personal Details According to the Given format along with Choice of the center, Choice of program, Percentage marks Should maintain the Given criteria as mentioned above. A Scanned Copy of the Passport Size photo and Signature on the Blank page should be uploaded at the time of form filling.

One should be very careful while filling the applications, once submitted cannot be changed later. The application fee paid by the candidate is non-refundable.

Note: Candidate should note down and remember their E-mail ID and Password till the announcement of final results of JK SET.

Things to Remember before Apply

Candidate’s Photograph: Before proceeding to apply, Candidates must have scanned passport size photos in JPEG format (10 kb to 100 kb). The same photograph will be used for pasting on the Attendance Sheet at the examination center.

Candidate’s Signature: The Scanned Signature must be between 5 kb to 30kb. The candidates are required to upload the full signature in running handwriting. Writing full name would not be accepted as a signature and the Application Form would be rejected. Further, unsigned Online Application Forms will also be rejected.

Candidate’s Name / Mother’s Name/ Father’s Name: Candidate’s Name, Mother’s Name, Father’s Name Must be the same as given in the Secondary School Examination in Capital letters.

Date of Birth (dd/mm/yyyy): The candidate’s date of birth should match with Secondary School Examination Certificate.

Mobile Number and e-mail Address: Candidates must provide their own Mobile Number and e-mail address.

Examination Fee and Mode of Payment

Category Fee:

  1. General Category: 1100/-
  2. OBC-NCL And Other Reserved Categories (RBA/ ALC-IB/ WUP/ PSP/ EWSGeneral): 880/-
  3. SC/ST/Transgender/ PwD With 40% Disability: 660/-

*RBA and OBC are the same categories. RBA is the resident of the backward area. Whereas ALC stands for reserved posts under the Actual Line of Control.

Mode of payment: By clicking on the Payment button at the JK SET site, proceed to make payment via State Bank MOPS (Multi Option Payment System).

Fee submitted by any other mode like Money Order /Demand Draft/IPO etc., will NOT be accepted. Fee once paid will NOT be refunded under any circumstances.

JK SET 2021 Admit Card

JK SET 2020 aspirants can download admit cards that will release on the official website i.e. http://set.uok.edu.in Candidates who submit their online applications are issued admit cards indicating the date, time, and examination center.  JK SET 2021 admit card is mandatory for entry into the examination hall. The candidates must carry a photo identity along the printed admit card issued by the JK SET authority.

Some steps mentioned below to download the JK SET Admit Card 2021 easily.

  1.  Go to the official website of the JK SET i.e University of Kashmir
  2. Check for the admit card link under the News and Events section.
  3. Log in by entering the registered email and password.
  4.  Download the admit card and get a printout of the same.

JK SET Exam Pattern

Language: The question paper is set in English.

Exam mode: The examination is conducted offline in OMR sheets.

Sections: There are 3 sections of the examination, Paper I, II & III

The number of questions: Paper I contains 60 questions out of which 50 has to be attempted. Paper-II contains 50 questions and Paper-III has 50 questions, All questions are Compulsory in Paper I & II.

Type of questions: All questions are of the MCQ type.

The test will be consisting of three papers. Which will consist of only Objective type Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs)

Paper-I: This paper is designed to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate. Here questions are asked from reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness sections. There are 60 multiple choice questions of two marks each. You need to answer any 50 questions from it.

Paper-II: It consists of 50 Multiple Choice Type (all compulsory) questions based on the subject selected by aspirants. Each question will carry 2 marks.

Paper-III: It comprises of 75 objective type compulsory questions. Each question will carry 2 marks.
All questions of Paper-II and Paper-III will be compulsory, covering the entire syllabus (including all electives, without options).

Qualifying criteria for JK SET

Follow these steps for considering a candidate for eligibility for Assistant Professors.

Step 1:

the candidates are required to obtain minimum marks in aggregate of all two papers i.e. Paper -I, Paper-II and Paper-III for eligibility of Assistant Professor as given below:

The number of candidates to be qualified (total slots) for Eligibility for Assistant Professors shall be equal to 6% of the candidates who appeared in both the papers of JKSET-2020.

Step 2: The total slots available, among the candidates who appeared in all two papers and cleared step 1, a merit list is prepared subject-wise and category-wise using the aggregate marks of all the two papers secured by such candidates.
In order to be considered for ‘Eligibility for Assistant Professor,

The general Category candidate must have secured at least 40% aggregate marks. And reserved categories must have secured at least 35% aggregate marks taken together for all candidates belonging to the reserved categories (viz., Cat-I, IIA, IIB, IIIA, IIIB, SC, ST, PWD).

Step 3: According to UGC’s directive, only 6% of the appearing candidates will be declared qualified for the Eligibility of Assistant Professor.

JK SET 2021 Answer Keys

The answer keys of the JK SET 2021 exam will be released on the official website after the exam. The answer keys contain the correct answers to all the questions asked in the exam. At first, the Commission releases the provisional answer keys while the final answer keys will release after the submission of all objections. Candidates are allowed to raise objections against the provisional answer keys within a specified time period. The final answer keys are released after the objections are evaluated. The final results of the JK SET 2021 exam will be released on the basis of the final answer keys only.

JK SET 2021 Result

The result of JK SET 2021 will be released as per schedule. The candidate can check their result using the Login ID and password.

Only the top 6% of candidates are declared as qualified candidates for the recruitment of Assistant Professor in Jammu & Kashmir. In order to create a list of such candidates, the University of Kashmir first evaluates marks as per the final answer key. Then it checks how many candidates have minimum qualifying marks.
